What to expect in the MEP...
As a foreign teacher you will be provided with accommodation including bills, a moped to get around Singburi, at least 15,000 baht salary per month, and free lunch at school. The school will organize your teacher license, your work permit, and an extension on your visa. You will also receive a medical card to use at the local hospital.
You will be required to teach at least 12 hours per week- teaching English, Maths, Science, Health or Computers. You are expected to arrive at school at 7.30 a.m., and lessons begin at 8.30 a.m. The school day ends for the students at 3.30 pm., however you will have the opportunity to teach extra classes for extra pay after school.

What do I wear?
Females should wear skirts or leggings with a top that covers your shoulders. Dresses are also acceptable. Flip-flops/thongs, flat shoes or heels are all suitable footwear.
Males should wear a collared shirt with black suit trousers.
On Tuesday and Friday each week, you are provided with a school shirt to wear if you'd like. The shirts correspond with the colour for the day- Tuesday is pink and Friday is blue.
Do I have assistance in the classroom?
Yes, you will have a bilingual Thai teaching assistant with you at all times.
How old are the students I will be teaching?
The students are separated into 8 classes: Pratom 1/1 Pratom 1/2, Pratom 2/1a, Pratom 2/1b, Pratom 3/1, Pratom 3/2, Pratom 4, and Pratom 5. The children in Pratom 1 are 6 and 7 years old, the children in Pratom 2 are 7 and 8 years old, the children in Pratom 3 are 8 and 9 years old, the children in Pratom 4 are 9 and 10 years old, and the children in Pratom 5 are 10 and 11 years old.
How far is the accommodation from work?
Your accommodation is unlikely to be more than 5 or 10 minutes from the school (when riding by moped or by bicycle).
What does Singburi town have to offer?
Though Sing Buri is one of the smaller provinces in Thailand there is plenty to do. There are two outdoor swimming pools, an indoor badminton court, multiple Muay Thai training gyms, as well as many parks with football/soccer, basketball, and takroh. There is one Tesco Lotus shopping center about 15 minutes outside of town, a shopping mall just around the corner from school, and an outdoor night market every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. Sing Buri also has a selection of restaurants, bars, and one night club.
Are there available resources that I can use for my subjects?
Yes, the school is well-resourced and the children also have workbooks that they use for their Maths, Science, and English lessons.
What technology is available in the classroom?
There is a computer in each classroom that is linked to an interactive whiteboard. All classrooms also have internet access so you can show videos, play games, etc that will support the teaching of your subject.
How many other foreign teachers will I be working with?
There will be at least five other foreign teachers working in the MEP.
Is the salary enough to live on?
Yes. The payment for your accommodation, utility bills etc is taken out of your salary before you receive the your minimum of 15,000 baht. This is enough to buy meals, take weekend trips, and enjoy a good social life outside of school.
Is it hard to ride a moped?
After a few lessons and some practice you should feel confident to ride a moped. If not,a bicycle is a great option. Or you can be a passenger on one of the other foreign teacher's moped.
